So our ecology is not the work of a dedicated department: it is a series of management choices, made one by one, over a five-month season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What we do<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n\n<li><strong>Recycling<\/strong>\u00a0: sorting points around the site, and the instructions handed to you on arrival rather than pinned up somewhere.<\/li>\n\n\n<li><strong>Water<\/strong>\u00a0: water-saving fittings in the new toilet and shower blocks, and careful watering of the green spaces.<\/li>\n\n\n<li><strong>Lighting<\/strong>\u00a0: dimmed at night, for the wildlife, for the starry sky and for everyone\u2019s sleep.<\/li>\n\n\n<li><strong>Green spaces<\/strong>\u00a0: mowing only where needed, hedges preserved, no pesticides at all.<\/li>\n\n\n<li><strong>The sheep<\/strong>\u00a0: eco-grazing, Picard style; they keep the meadows in better shape than a mower would.<\/li>\n\n\n<li><strong>The shop<\/strong>\u00a0: stocked with local produce, cider, cheeses and vegetables from nearby.<\/li>\n\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What you can do, without even thinking about it<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nothing restrictive, and above all nothing that spoils a holiday. Most campers already do these things.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n\n<li>Pick from the <a href=\"\/en\/eco-friendly-campsite\/\">shared garden<\/a> rather than buying herbs wrapped in plastic.<\/li>\n\n\n<li>Take one of the campsite\u2019s bikes out on the little roads of the Bessin: they are flat and quiet.<\/li>\n\n\n<li>Buy at the Tuesday evening farmers\u2019 market when it is on, or from the shop at reception.<\/li>\n\n\n<li>Leave the car on your pitch for a day: Cerisy-la-For\u00eat and its Romanesque abbey are 5 km away, ten minutes.<\/li>\n\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Certification under way<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We are working towards an environmental label. The standard and the logo will be published here as soon as it is approved.
